Efficiency Cost

Columbia Rural Electric Association (REA) wants to help you reduce your electricity bill. We are dedicated to energy conservation. “Columbia REA has been engaged in energy efficiency projects with our members for decades, helping them save money every month. It’s part of what we do.” says Scott Peters, Columbia REA Chief Executive Officer.

Columbia REA partners with Touchstone Energy Cooperatives and its large network of co-ops and rural electric partners. We also partner with Bonneville Power (BPA) to bring you 90% renewable energy. The great majority of that is hydroelectric power from our dams. When everyone pulls together to save, it benefits us all. If we save energy, members’ bills are reduced, and the demand on the grid is lowered, which saves on expensive upgrades to power plants and reduces the need for fossil fuels. It is the right thing to do for the environment.

So, what can you do to help conserve power?

We have some great programs in our rebate section on our Rebate Offers page.

These programs have been created to provide the greatest bang for the buck for you, our members, so your bill is lower, and the load on the system is reduced.

If you feel that solar power is right for you, we support our solar power customers with systems up to 100KW with an electrical connection, so you can have uninterrupted power at night or when it's cloudy. A properly designed solar system can reduce your usage, and being connected is a great way to avoid expensive battery systems but still reap the benefits of the sun.

Our online SmartHub application will allow you to see your solar credits and billing at any time.

And here’s another great way to save! Columbia REA is offering a free Google Nest Thermostat to our members. To see if the Google Nest thermostat is a good match for you and your existing system, please check it out on our Google Nest page.

And for more great everyday tips to help save, go to our Energy Saving Resources page.

There is a lot of information here, so if you have any questions, please contact me to discuss what might be the best match for you.
