New Solar or Renewable Energy Site Application

Application Submittal

There are 2 ways to apply:

If you do not have all the docs but want to get a preliminary approval while waiting for the docs from your contractor or otherwise but you will have to submit the complete application later. This does allow you to start the conversation with us about Net-Metering, costs and our requirements. Also, we will check to see if our system can handle the amount of electricity you would like to send us.

If you have all the information below, submit a complete application.

Information required to submit a complete application:

  1. Your Columbia REA Account AND meter number (on your bill or in Smart Hub )
  2. Your Contractors contact information
  3. System information from your contractor that you will input:
    • Rating of system in KW – AC only
    • Voltage; 120, 240, 208, 277, 480
    • Phase (single or 3)
    • Prime Mover type; Photovoltaic, Engine, Turbine, other
    • Energy Source; Solar, Wind, Water, Biogas
    • Is this PV System UL1741 or UL1741-PCS (BESS Systems) Listed? (required)
    • All systems must have a contractor installed AC Production Meter.
  4. Two PDF docs:
  5. Pay the application fee. We do not approve applications until the fee is paid.

Columbia REA requires a non-refundable Interconnection Application fee based on the system size, rated in AC, for either new systems or expansions to existing systems-

      • 1 KW to  10 KW                           $ 600.00
      • 10.01 KW to 20KW                      $ 900.00
      • 20.01KW to 50KW                       $ 1,300.00
      • 50.01KW to 100KW                     $ 2,600.00
      • Minimal system expansion*         $ 250.00
      • Battery Energy Storage System  – An additional fee and longer approval period may be required for a BESS and/or a System Impact Study. We will inform you, if so.

Note: Once submitted  below, you, the Columbia REA Member, will receive an email from us with the application information and asking for a confirmation from your email. (not your contractors email) Confirmations from a contractors emails will not be accepted.

We don’t review or approve applications until the application fee is paid and all information is received. We strongly suggest you do not proceed with installation until you have approval from Columbia REA. We are not responsible for any costs or issues encountered by proceeding without Columbia REA approval.

Please do not start construction before we have provided approval.
