American families and businesses cannot afford higher electricity bills and the risk of rolling blackouts.
But the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) is moving forward with a rule that would shut down reliable, always available power plants across the country and make it harder to build new ones. The White House has the power to stop this rule, but we need your help!
Our electric grid is already stretched thin. The nation’s grid watchdog, the North American Electric Reliability Corporation (NERC), recently forecast that over the next 5 years, all or parts of 19 states are at high risk of rolling blackouts during normal conditions. They also predict most of the country will face similar risks when demand for electricity spikes during exceedingly hot or cold temperatures.
This rule will only make it worse, undermining decades of work to keep the lights on. The White House must recognize the disastrous impact this rule will have on the future of affordable, reliable electricity before it’s too late.
Act now and tell your representatives that the White House must drop the EPA power plant rule because of the harmful impacts this would have on you and your family.
Protect our reliable power today.
Voices for Cooperative Power is a grassroots network of electric co-op employees, board members, consumer members, and community stakeholders dedicated to transforming rural and suburban communities, shaping the future of local electricity, and ensuring affordable and reliable power for all Americans.
Our Impact. Last summer, over 100,000 VCP members submitted letters to the EPA, stressing the impact the EPA’s regulations would have on their co-ops and access to affordable, reliable power. It’s time for more action. Join Voices for Cooperative Power and urge the White House to drop this harmful rule. Speak out today. Your voice matters.
Electric cooperatives are leaders in testing and demonstrating new technologies focused on increasing grid reliability. Because of that leadership, co-ops understand the complex technical challenges of implementing new technologies.
