Food, Fun & Financials…Oh My!

This year, Columbia Rural Electric Association (REA) invites members to follow the Yellow Brick Road straight to our Annual Meeting on Thursday, April 23—an evening where cooperative business meets community connection, and where every member is encouraged to bring an appetite and a voice!

At Columbia REA, you’re not just a customer—you’re part of the story. The Annual Meeting is our once-a-year opportunity for you to see how the cooperative is navigating today’s energy landscape, planning for the future, and staying true to the people and communities we serve. And speaking of community, the Annual Meeting is also a great opportunity to participate, share your thoughts, ask questions, connect with friends and neighbors—and our staff, and enjoy a great meal.

As you may have guessed, our theme this year is “The Wizard of Oz.” But unlike The Emerald City, there’s no curtain here, no illusion of wizardry. Transparency and accountability are core to how we operate, and the Annual Meeting is where we share information, answer questions, and listen to what matters most to you. You’ll hear updates on Columbia REA’s operations, financial health, and key projects.

Members will also have the opportunity to participate in important cooperative business. We will be announcing the results of our 2026 Board election, and we’re guaranteed to have a new Director this year, as Greg Knowles is easing into semiretirement after 15 years on the Board—citing something about “there’s no place like home…and grandkids.” And by the way, there is still time to vote in our Board election. Voting continues through April 22! You’ll also get to meet our 2026 scholarship recipients and possibly win 1 of many door prizes.

And if there are no tornadoes or other unpleasant weather conditions in the area, we will even be offering tethered hot-air balloon rides in our parking lot!
