Columbia Rural Electric Association (REA) is built on a foundation of community support…in both directions. The communities we serve return those efforts with tremendous support of their co-op. 1 of the programs we are most proud of is our scholarship program, which is coming up on its 24th year.
The Clark A. Brewington Memorial Scholarship Program provides continuing educational opportunities for High School seniors who are Columbia REA members by offering 3 $3,000 academic scholarships. These scholarships are allocated evenly in the amount of $3,000 per year for 4 years (up to $12,000 total) to an accredited academic institution and will be awarded 1 per co-op voting district, based on the residency of the student member.
The Columbia REA Jeff Meredith Lineman Scholarship Program will offer 2 $3,000 scholarships to a person enrolled in or who will be enrolled in a recognized Electrical Lineworker Program (ELP). This scholarship will contribute a 1-time payment of $3,000 to the recipient’s school account for fees and tuition expenses upon successfully enrolling at a recognized Lineman Training Program. Applicants for the Jeff Meredith Scholarship do not have to be Columbia REA members.
The application process is very simple. Applications will be evaluated by a volunteer committee of cooperative members. Application forms for 2024 will be available on January 1, 2024, on our website, Columbia REA. Go to “Community” in the main menu on our home page and click on “Scholarships.”
