Following a thorough review of all 29 applications, Columbia REA’s 2025 MPT Grant funds will be presented to two local non-profit organizations with a tightly focused mission

United Blind of Walla Walla (UBWW) is a community-based, volunteer-driven nonprofit dedicated to improving the quality of life, independence, and social connection of blind and low-vision individuals in the Walla Walla Valley.
UBWW empowers residents through education, peer support, advocacy, and community engagement. The organization offers workshops and presentations on assistive technology, mobility, daily living skills, and accessible tools that help members remain independent at home and active in the community.
UBWW promotes accessibility and inclusion in local services, transportation, public spaces, and civic processes, collaborating with Valley Transit, the City of Walla Walla, Blue Mountain Action Council, and the Lions Club to raise awareness and connect members with resources.
Through its programs and advocacy, UBWW helps blind and low-vision residents gain confidence, maintain dignity, and participate more fully in community life.
PNW Veteran Fishing Charter

PNW Veteran Fishing Charter is a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting veterans through outdoor recreation, community connection, and therapeutic experiences on the water.
Founded with the mission of helping veterans heal from the physical and mental challenges of service, the organization provides guided fishing trips in the Pacific Northwest at little to no cost to participants. Our core program focuses on hosting fishing excursions, creating an environment where veterans can relax, build camaraderie, and reconnect with a sense of purpose.
These trips are designed to reduce stress, encourage fellowship, and promote overall well-being through time spent outdoors. Support from our community directly funds trips, equipment, safety gear, and accessibility improvements for disabled veterans.
PNW Veteran Fishing Charter is more than a fishing program—it is a pathway to healing. By removing barriers and creating meaningful outdoor experiences, this project provides veterans with connection, purpose, and support in a way that is both impactful and lasting.
