How is your old air conditioner holding up through another eastern Washington summer? If your system is struggling, running constantly or needing frequent repairs, it may be using more energy than necessary. For rural customers, where service calls can take extra time and travel, replacing an aging system with the right equipment can improve comfort, reliability and monthly energy costs.

Find a contractor who understands rural homes

Get the right fit

Make sure your new system is sized for your actual cooling needs. Bigger is not always better. Oversized equipment can cost more to install, cycle on and off too often and leave some rooms uncomfortable. Your contractor should include factors such as insulation, sun exposure, window condition, ceiling height, air leaks and whether the home has additions or rooms that were built at different times.

Keep a good thing going

Once your new system is installed, protect your investment with regular maintenance. Have it cleaned and inspected once a year by a qualified professional, and change filters according to the manufacturer’s guidelines.

A cooling system upgrade can improve comfort and reduce energy costs. With the right equipment, proper sizing and dependable maintenance, you can stay comfortable through summer heat while using energy wisely.
