Local Fire Departments Awarded 2024 More Powerful Together Grant Funding

Representing Columbia-Walla Walla County Fire District #2 (Left to Right); Fire Commissioner Brooke Mikesell; Captain Dane Henze; Charlie DeSalvo, Columbia REA.

2 recipients have been chosen to receive this year’s More Powerful Together Grant dollars.

After careful consideration of all applications, our 2024 MPT Grant funds will be presented to Walla Walla County Fire District #8, for the purchase of a new HVAC system and electrical upgrades to a new facility, and Columbia-Walla Walla County Fire District #2, for the purchase of three Thermal Imaging Cameras and a Rescue Training Manikin.

We had a tremendous response to our request for applications, and it was a very difficult decision for our selection committee. We received 27 applications for grant funding from a wide variety of organizations throughout the three counties we serve, and all were reviewed thoroughly and thoughtfully by a volunteer panel of Columbia REA staff.

We would like to thank every organization that applied this year for taking the time to do so, and we would like to invite all to apply again next year. Look for information regarding next year’s More Powerful Together Community Grant program in the coming months.

Representing Walla Walla County Fire District #8 (L to R): Assistant Chief Jeff Davis; Steve Owens, Columbia REA; Chair David Morel; Cpt. Mike Davis; Chief Bob Clendaniel; Commissioner Don Schwerin; Commissioner Stan Schwerin.
