Building Benchmarking – Energy Star

Building Benchmarking – Energy Star

In 2019 the WA State Clean Buildings bill was signed into law, expanded in 2022, and augmented in 2023. The objective is to lower costs and pollution from fossil fuel consumption in the state’s existing covered buildings, multifamily buildings, and campus district energy systems.

Registration for Covered Building Owners

  1. Covered building owners are required to submit the Building Owner Request Form, (below) for each tenant if the building has fewer than four tenants, to begin the process of energy-use data uploads to the Portfolio Manager.
  2. Once approved, please follow the below “After acceptance instructions” for configuring your building benchmarking account in the EnergyStar Portfolio Manager.
  3. After this registration process is completed and your Portfolio Manager account has been configured for Columbia REA to share data with you, automated uploads of electric meter energy-usage data will be available.
